The Guru on How To Write A Book
Jake opens up by telling us more about his background and how he eventually became an author. Through his love for basketball, wanting to become a sports agent and eventually writing his very first book, ‘Elevate Beyond’.
After Jake’s first ever book became a bestseller, he quickly realized that he wanted to begin helping other entrepreneurs write their books.
The Road to “Yes”
With no audience, and no long standing presence in the space he was writing about, Jake began to make a list of community colleges around California to reach out to. After sending hundreds of emails pitching his speaking, he began landing presentations.
While Jake had no exact plan for his first speaking engagement, his excitement led him to execution. And as he mentions his philosophy when it comes to business, “You build it after you have the customer”.
As Jake built his network, he realized that all of his relationships were starting to refer to him as their “book guy”. These relationships helped build him up, and also developed a foundation for them to help each other.
More Niche, More Focus, More Depth
As Jake was set to release his third book, he began his journey as an online business coach. He quickly learned the value of reverting back to his why, and decided to niche down into a coach that specifically focuses on helping entrepreneurs write books that support scaling their businesses.
The road to entrepreneurship is unknown, but the key is to start with what you know and evolve from there.
How Books Can Grow Your Business
Jake shares the four ways your book can be used to market and scale your business:
- Lead generation magnet
- Customer experience opportunities – new clients with a hand written notes
- Convert clients at a higher rate
- Low ticket price point as a part of your funnel
When writing your book, it’s not about landing a New York Times Best Seller, it’s about sharing your message and truth with any reader that decides to read along.
If you have a message inside of you, that it’s your duty to share that mission and your voice with other’s. This is what will change the game in your life!
Jake and his team help clients write their book in a step by step process under their Big Idea To Best Seller program. In this program, the goal is to have clients write and launch their book within 4 months.
