Where the Journey Began

One of the ways Chris introduces himself is as a spiritual entrepreneur because the spiritual path is an adventure. At the age of 29, Chris started questioning everything in his life. He was a successful business owner, made a lot of money, was married and had a baby, but despite having everything he still wasn’t happy. At that point, he began to look inward and found spirituality. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho opened Chris’s mind around life and spirituality. The book became a defining moment for his personal development and spiritual perspective.

At 15, Chris remembers hearing God speak to him during a really tough time in his family’s life. He heard a small voice say “you’ll always work for yourself and then one day you’ll work for me.” He followed the plan and has been an entrepreneur most of his life except a short 3 years after college.

Being Unhappy

Since he was 24 years old, Chris has had his own line of business. Even though he had to face many obstacles along the way, he continued to find himself in the process. Throughout his life, he thought that success was all about the things he didn’t have growing up, which were financial security, a wife, and a child he’d raise differently. Yet when he acquired all those things, he still wasn’t happy.

The Pendulum

Life is a pendulum. You witness your parents doing one thing and you automatically swing so far to the other side in an effort to “never be like them” but the truth is you need to land somewhere in the middle.

Chris has had some struggles in his entrepreneurial journey. At some point, he didn’t have his own business, and he just did what he had to do to live. He then went into the corporate world to take care of himself, even it was temporary. Yet, with the steady paycheck and receiving more appreciation than what he had, he felt that it was only part of his journey to spirituality.

Finding Spirituality

Chris says that finding spirituality happens over time. It’s not like you get struck by lightening and suddenly have all the answers. It’s the collective experiences – looking inward, questioning your life choices, and learning from your mistakes that ultimately helps lead you to your spirituality. It may seem like the world is crashing around you, but something universal is bound to happen where you can heal your wounds and find spirituality.

Exploring Yoga

When Chris was going through some tough times, he started running a lot, but started experiencing a lot of pain. He found our he had plantar fasciitis and knew intuitively it was time to try out yoga. It was his yoga practice that allowed him to feel a sense of healing. Yoga became a place not just for physicality, but a place to decompress, gather thoughts, and just feel safe.

In a yoga class on Christmas morning, Chris was lying in humble warrior when he heard a small voice tell him to write a book called “The Humble Warrior” so he did just that. The experience of writing that book spawned more growth and healing and looking inward. Vulnerability equals strength and sharing is healing.

Once Chris has finished his book, he decides to do a surrender experiment to let his next business or idea come to him. Three months later, Chris goes to a smoothie bar he never frequents after a yoga class and that’s where he met Chef Jay. He tries one of Chef Jay’s bars and hears another subtle voice telling him “you’ve found something to do”. This is a prime example of how everything can change in a moment.

Why Bars is Born

Chef Jay and Chris went into business together to create a bar that could curb your appetite for three hours. Why Bars is different from their competitors because they are made of very clean ingredients and each bar is handmade with love. There are 7 bars to represent the 7 chakras.

Body, Mind, and Spirit

When you’re on a spiritual path, you’re taught to think about things in terms of body, mind, and spirit. Body first is looking inward and being conscious of the items we put into our bodies. Food is the fuel your body needs to survive and thrive. Next, you need to be aware of how your body will respond to eating. You have to tie your body’s emotional, mental, and spiritual makeup together. Once you find your purpose in life or that thing that lights you up from the inside, you want to show up better. You want your mind, body, and spirit to be better because you want to treat yourself well.

Follow Your Heart

Learn to understand and follow your heart. Not following the heart and letting the mind take over will sometimes make you feel trapped. Following your heart wakes you up, and allows you to realize some things might not be in alignment with what you truly want in life.
